Hi. I joined the Church last Easter Vigil as a convert from the Baptist faith. I am married with children, but my wife and kids still remain Baptists. I heard a Canon Lawyer recently on Catholic Answers Live and I became confused. He seemed to be telling someone in a similar situation that they needed to have their marriage blessed before recieving Eucharist. I had never heard this before, what do I do?

Hi,

No, you do not have to have your marriage blessed. The Catholic Church recognized the marriages between non Catholics and valid.

If, however, your wife were a Catholic and married you outside of the Catholic Church, the Church would not recognize it the marriage as valid and you would have to have it blessed.
