Sure the father would have to face justice and then the good versus evil would make it’s main point. But you know when the show does reach it’s end that Jack lives on, somewhere.

As for the discussion, even before electronic media, the newspapers during the colonial and earl U.S. days were also quite biased for and against the King of England. As long as there are opposing viewpoints, people will see biad in everything. As for me, I truly do not trust the media or any propgram that has an agenda to forcefeed down our throats. That is why I do not have calbe, satellite or antenna on my tv. I have tapes and DVD’s to watch.

I’ve pretty much lost my interest in the show because it violates so many “good guy” rules.

The big one: 24 says that the ends justify the means.

Remember the episode that Jack shot his co-worker (an honorable agent) because a terrorist demanded it?

I think it raises questions about such things rather than providing answers. It also engages thoughtfulness over real struggles with hard human decisions that people may make for better or worse.

Well, it’s not supposed to be a good guy series; it is more like real life: Jack faces a situation, so what would he do with it? It looks at situations one might face in real life, and lets the audience think whether his decision was right or wrong. in essence, it blurs things between right and wrong. Remember, this is not some feel good, look he is a good guy series. It takes situations, looks them in the eye, and makes Jack do things anyone might do. We’re left to discuss whether such actions were justified, which is no different from real life.

I think too, it portrays someone we wish we could be without suffering the moral dilemma.'Fess up, there are times I would venture to say that some of us wish we had Jack Bauer on our “One Touch Dialing”

I agree with you, but it doesn’t take away my interest in 24 😛

Besides, I couldn’t wait for Chappel to be listed as deceased 😃 That guy was so annoying!

We just finished the 5th season last night. What a yucky ending! No one expects the Chinese Inquisition!!!
 
Well, I like my heroes to be heroes.

I can read the news to see how miserably most handle real issues.

It seems like in the first couple of seasons, Jack was following all the unwritten hero rules. I guess the writers had to increase the shock value.

I like 24. It is more or less realistic and it gives me hope that we may survive…then again, maybe not.

Or at least that Jack Will survive, even if everyone else on the planet shall perish.

I wonder what two books Jack would like when he’s all alone in the world?
 
I LOVE 24. I have never watched it on tv, but started out watching season 1 on dvd. Watching a whole season on dvd is the way to go. The only harm I see is it feeds my sin of sloth, as I lie on the couch for 3 or 4 days, watching nohing but 24. My kids gave me Season 5 for Christmas, and after the Christmas hustle and bustle, I laid around for 3 days and watched the whole season - the kids lazed around the house, played with their friends, ate Christmas leftovers, etc. I turned my hubby on to 24, so he lazed around with me.

I take the attitude that if the hand causes you to sin, cut off the hand. I don’t develop bad attitudes or become violent from watching 24. I usually watch a whole season in a marathon (one season I watched when recovering from minor surgery)

I have shows I won’t watch - I refuse to watch the Sopranos - way too violent, I cannot see any redeeming value in this show whatsoever. Mob violence and family dysfunction is not entertaining to me. I also have never watched Sex and the City - I just can’t see why I would want to watch a show about a bunch of women slutting around NYC.
