Nuns do NOT spend every free minute praying, nor should anyone that is reasonable expect them to.

Nuns are human beings, just like the rest of us.

When I was in a Monastery, we played games during recreation. Had video games been available, I have no doubt we would have played ones that were not offensive or irreligious. I can tell you, some of our games got pretty competitive (ping pong, chess, baseball, basketball, etc.)

Even contemplatives have actual recreation time. The body, and the soul, need recreation for optimal health.
True that. I remember hanging out with the Franciscans at EWTN and playing Basketball and Volleyball and Working Out and tons of other stuff.

…“Sister Act” was based on a True Story? Well, that’s made my day.
This post just made my day! :extrahappy: That’s my favorite movie and one of my favorite scenes in the movie!

But I should’ve mentioned this thread when I was on my retreat. One of the girls I was on the retreat with went to the previous retreat with the younger kids and she was talking about how obnoxious they were. She said one of them asked “Do nuns listen to music?” and another one said “Yeah like Ke$ha!” I’m glad that wasn’t the night I went.

I know that the Benedictine sisters here in Tulsa have a Nintendo Wii that was given to them and they play it during their recreation time 🙂
