Do only Catholics go to heaven

Yesterday, during our homily, our Deacon said that “only Catholics go to heaven and anyone who goes to heaven has become Catholic after they die.”
I believe that I have also heard it said that many people go to heaven, not just Catholics. Please clarify many parisioners are confused. Thanks!
