If we are in a state of mortal sin, due to purposely missing Sunday Mass, are our prayers, fasting, and penances heard and answered by God? or do we need to go to confession and be in a state of grace?
It is always a good idea to pray. God’s “ears” still work no matter what you did. You cannot alter Him.If we are in a state of mortal sin, due to purposely missing Sunday Mass, are our prayers, fasting, and penances heard and answered by God? or do we need to go to confession and be in a state of grace?
I had the exact same question a few months ago, and it was answered on the “ask an apologist” forum. You should search for it and see what Fr Serpa said (because I can’t remember exactly). But I do know that we most certainly should continue to pray even when we are in mortal sin.If we are in a state of mortal sin, due to purposely missing Sunday Mass, are our prayers, fasting, and penances heard and answered by God? or do we need to go to confession and be in a state of grace?
So, keep praying.Code:1452 When it arises from a love by which God is loved above all else, contrition is called "perfect" (contrition of charity). Such contrition remits venial sins; it also obtains forgiveness of mortal sins if it includes the firm resolution to have recourse to sacramental confession as soon as possible.
