Do Protestants believe that Catholics are true Christians?

It depends on the Protestant denomination, but in all reality the Protestant himself. I’ve noticed that many have no authority other than their conscience or their pastor and are free to believe whatever.

Indeed… But if they could only look into our hearts and see our love for Jesus, I believe their unwarranted fears and prejudices would greatly subside in an instant.

Although I believe they are misguided, most of them deeply love the Lord and desire the best for us too. It grieves me to think some of them feel this way…

Perhaps more dialogue in places like this will help them to look at us in a new light.

I agree with you fully. You are showing the love of Christ in your approach. I should take heed. 🙂

Pretty straight forward. One must be saved in order not to go to hell. The Bible tells us how to be saved. Cut and dry.
Amen!!! And some Scriptures that the Bible speaks on this subject.

Acts 16:31: Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you shall be saved, you and your household.

Romans 10:9. If you confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved.

I can quote more. But we’ll start with these for now.

From my understanding (as simple as it may be) of Catholicism, I believe that Catholics would say “amen” on these Scriptures. If that is not the case, please correct me, and I will revisit my opinion on Catholicism.

But if this is the case, the issue becomes “how do you know that a Catholic (or a Christian from any denomination for that matter) that professes faith in Jesus as outlined by the Scriptures above is not saved?”

I agree, it’s pretty “cut and dry.” I agree with those verses as well as these.

Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. (Matthew 7:21)

(Hmm… we must do His will. It’s not optional.)

If you forgive others for the wrongs they do to you, your Father in heaven will forgive you. (Matthew 6:14)

(Hmm… we must forgive others. That’s not optional.)

And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him. (Hebrews 5:9)

(Yes, He gives eternal life to those who obey Him.)

But if you do eat my flesh and drink my blood, you will have eternal life, and I will raise you to life on the last day. My flesh is the true food, and my blood is the true drink. If you eat my flesh and drink my blood, you are one with me, and I am one with you.
(John 6:54-56)

(If you eat this true food and this true drink, you can be one with Him.)

Those flood waters were like baptism that now saves you. But baptism is more than just washing your body. It means turning to God with a clear conscience, because Jesus Christ was raised from death. (1 Peter 3:21)

(Like confessing Him as Lord and Savior, we see that baptism saves us.)

Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. (Philippians 2:12)

(Salvation has something to do with a process that involves fear and trembling.)

Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God:
But he that denieth me before men shall be denied before the angels of God. (Luke 12:8-9)

(If we deny Him before men, we are in trouble.)

And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.
(Matthew 25:30-46)

(In ordinary circumstances, if you do not do good works for the poor or you will be damned.)

Wow, now we are really making progress! Yes, Catholics believe all of the Bible. I think we are on a roll. 😉
