So what exactly would you have this family, who are involved and active in your parish and in the music of it, do when they feel they ought to wear veils out of respect for Our Lord in the tabernacle? Do you want them to be kicked out of the singing? Do you want them to move to the back of the church? Are you aware that, when one has children, being up in the front where they can see is very important?
You use the word “sideshow” to describe a family who are active in your parish and wish to show humility before the tabernacle? Because they are the only ones who feel obliged to show extra humility before Our Lord, you impute motives of pride to them? That seems unkind and uncharitable to me. Am I wrong? Do you know more about these people’s motives than you have mentioned in your post, where you admit, albeit grudgingly, that they might NOT be proud about it?
