I beg to differ it was pretty much the Soviets, but then America held the line and promised to back free Europe against the Soviets.

Eventaully, the war in Europe would have been the Soviets against Germany only. Had we not gotten involved, there very well could have been a stalemate reached on the Eastern Front.

Very interessting discussion. As someone who is from Europe I can confirm that religion doesn’t play a great part there as it does in the USA. At least in Western and Middle Europe realtivism is the main ideology and there are many attacks against religion (especially against Catholicism). In my opinion this has to do with the French Revolution (I’ve already mentioned it in another thread) which was extremely anti-christian. I see this as the key moment, where Europe turned from a christian continent into an anti-religious continent. They always speak about tolerance here, but they are only tolerant as long as you bow to relativism.

many things we use here in the US come from elsewhere … so what’s the point? Check out the violent crime rates in Europe, see how they take care of their people who are going through tough times, compare their education system to ours, compare their health care system to ours, etc.

I hear complaints from Europeans too. How many violent crimes are not reported because it’s a minority group think and it’s best to let them handle it? People in tough times, are we including Europeans from poorer countries who go to the wealthier ones for things like health care and the like? I understand Britain was afraid of the inflow of Roma attracted to better conditions. Hey, they still have professional beggars over there because it’s supposedly more lucrative than going out and getting a job(although this might have changed in Maldovia and Hungary). I don’t know too much about Europe’s education system(it’s a big place over there), but there are still students who don’t speak the country’s primary language for various reasons, and have difficulty advancing because of it. How many times have you heard of a European woman who was outraged to find out she had to go to a gynecologist, and how close is the nearest one? Did you know your chances of surviving breast cancer or prostate cancer are a lot better in the US than it is in Britain? Okay, Britain might not be a good idea. France? SAMU sounds nice, but I’d like to get to the hospital, thanks. Well, at least it’s cheap in France.

All in all, they still have the same problems we do, just in different degrees. I don’t think that’s further along or anything. Ah, the above is just stupid, ignore me. Need to check with Interpol… supposedly the statistics are running in how they’re changing.

point is they wouldn’t know how to drill for oil if it wasn’t for us less evolved religious americans. there are many, many things we have taught them. I don’t want my government taking care of me in tough times nobody with a brain would. I graduated from a country school with 17 other kids. no band and only 2 sports. our valedictorian is now a chemical engineer for bp. graduated top of her ou class as well. now makes six figures. I help run 3 business’s myself. our education system is fine. its the lazy parents with lazy kids that make it look bad. health care, weve had the best health care in the world. its the illegals and the deadbeet welfare americans who do not pay their bills that are hurting it. id like to see what would happen if you and all the other libs moved out and let us conservative religious folk run every aspect. you would either end up jealous and mad or running back begging to be a “true” american again.

Speaking as a biologist and a European there is nothing in that statement that rings true.
