Do the last rites absolve Catholics of all sins?

If you receive the last rites before you die, does it absolve you of all sins? Does the individual still have to go to purgatory to atone for their sins or do they go directly to heaven? As a life long Catholic, I have always wonder this.
 
The answer is basically yes. Part of the last rites is the sacrament of confession. The sacrament of confession forgives sins. If the individual is unable to confess then the anointing of the sick forgives sins. Last Rites can remit temporal punishment for sins if the recipient is properly disposed.
