Do TLM Priests today have trouble getting servers?

No trouble here in NYC. We have over 40 guys (ages 18-60) on the list to serve daily Low Mass. The other night we had two servers, two servers sitting vested in choir and another five servers in the pews, Deo gratias. We have 2 new monthly men’s Catholic groups thanks to the Traditional Latin Mass. We have the capacity now to help numerous other NYC parishes when they are ready to go. Priests are taking our instructional DVDs on the Mass and distributing them to other priests. Great things are happening here and countless men are gravitating to the Mass.

Could we get 40 guys to rotate serving the Novus Ordo Mass on a daily basis? No chance.

That is wonderful to hear - Deo Gratias indeed. That’s what I miss about living back in the war zone - you could find beautiful Catholic churches everywhere and Traditionalist churches are more common than out here in the middle of nowhere. No surprise that traditional Catholics can accomplish more

I just attended my first TLM at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Syracuse NY. They have 4pm TLM. Anways, they had 3 boys (12 and over) and one adult male serving. It was very lovely, though next time I will sit closer to the front and make sure my missal isn’t missing 20 pages in the middle

If a server doesn’t turn up, it’s up to the MC or presiding priest to apply moral judo to males in the congregation and get a volunteer.

Actually, I think it can be an occasion of grace. Some good man might thereby be enthused to take a more active part in the Church.

The TLM: offers the best job (for a priest or deacon) or hobby (for a lay server or singer) ever! You’ll always be learning and it’s never dull.

For us…all the women eyeball the men,boys and infant males until one squirms and beats a retreat for the safety of the all male sanctuary:thumbsup:

We’re a Catholic homeschool family and are around many Traditional Catholics on a regular basis, though we are not ourselves. My dh is now on parish council at our parish and is making a very brave attempt to ‘traditionalize’ it! He was very instrumental in getting the crucifix re-enstated after 30 years of having a risen Christ over the tabernacle. YEAH!!
Our 15yo son was just recently trained to altar serve. We didn’t encourage him sooner for fear he would be ill trained. Now that he’s older and has drawn on the gift of piety in his life, we felt he was ready. He is so reverent while serving Mass at our little NO parish, that he has been asked by several people if he thinks he may have a calling to the priesthood. He just laughs and says, " That’s how you’re supposed to act! You should see the guys at a TLM!" I thank God for our Catholic hs group!!!
