Nope. It is private revelation and not part of the Church’s teaching.

The Scapular devotion can be very beneficial when you are attracted to that sacramental, and all that goes with it.
There are other sacramentals as well, such as miraculous medal of our Blessed Mother, pictures of the Holy Face of Jesus, etc.
We all have different personalities, and different choices to make. Thanks be to the Lord!

No, but there’s lots of things that we don’t **have **to do. I think it’s important not to settle for mediocrity, or to insist on approaching God from the perspective of the least we have to do to please Him.

There are many different scapulars and many devotions yet they are all part of private revelation and it is not binding on Catholics to believe them.
That being said,the scapular is generally seen as a sacramental and is a symbol of an interior devotion.
It has no special power and is not a talisman. I had one friend who said if I buried an old scapular in my garden it would help it grow! That is superstitious.
