Well with any blessing like that your venial sins are forgiven but then again there are many ways to get venial sins forgiven and in varying degrees… which is more complicated then the topic at hand…I have wondered about this to… i watched during easter the pope doing the easter mass and it was on tv and he gave a blessing to the whole world to who ever was watching it on TV or listeneing to it on the radio. and said your sins are forgiven. and my mum told me to do the sign of the cross and said to me all your sins have been forgiven. but i wonder if all or just the venral sin. doesn’t matter because i have been to confession since then but still would like to know.

Mortal sins are only forgiven through the sacrament of confession or perfect contrition (which is rare). Yes, that is correct. If the priest intends to bless the viewing audience, they do recieve it. But a blessing is a living act, recording media may record the words and video, but not the metaphysical reality of the blessing itself.I remember this question being asked a while back- if you search I’m sure you’ll find it somewhere around here.
From what I recall, yes you do recieve the blessing through TV, radio etc., but it must be a live broadcast.

Sometimes there is an intentional delay, either to be able to edit out sudden vulgarity, or because say a golf tournament ran late. In fact, the commentator from Vatican Radio makes that announcement (usually Cardinal Foley) that it is the Holy Father’s intention to bestow the blessing on all those who are listening to him live on Vatican Radio or watching the broadcast live via TV or Internet. I have to agree and disagree with you. According to Fr. Mitch Pacwa. No the Re-run doesn’t count. Tapes can’t bless you. A priest can bless you and you can even bless yourself but not the re-run doesn’t count. but of course this doesn’t mean you can just watch a video of a priest giving a blessing over and over and over as if to receive many blessings… it doesn’t work like that…
