My Mormon niece was recently baptized in her faith. I don’t know if the Mormons use water or the Trinitarian formula. Do the Mormons have a valid Christian baptism and may I acknowledge hers?

Thank you!

Dear Suzanne,

No we do not recognize Mormon baptism as valid because their understanding of the Trinity is vastly different than ours. For more on Mormonism your might want to read: “Inside Mormanism” by Isaiah Bennet, available on catholic.com or by phone: 888 291 8000.
