Do you believe in hypnosis?

well while hypnosis is wrong in the Church, i do believe its a mind over matter thing, if youre will is strong enough to say yes it will work, then it will happen.
its the sae thing with cancer, most people who are diagnosed with it die soon, because their mind says that cancer kills alot of people, but some people who dont know they have it, lives much longer,

this is just a thought of mine

There is of course nothing wrong in itself with the practice of hypnotism, and therefore
under certain conditions its use would be licit. Since hypnotism, however, violently
deprives the subject of the full use of reason and free will, a justifying cause is required
for allowing it to be practiced. Hypnotism may be licitly used provided three
conditions are verified: (1) there is present a grave reason, (2) the consent of the subject
is obtained, and (3) due precautions are observed. We shall explain in detail the
meaning of these three conditions.

One of my friends and her husband were hypnotized by a Catholic priest to stop smoking and the effects lasted about three or four months.
 
One of my friends went for hypnosis to help her stop smoking . And it worked for a while .

But certain memories about serious and prolonged abuse which she had suffered in her younger years came very much to the fore . She had to undergo counselling .
 
I’m curious if that was a good thing or a bad thing,
Though not intended, it did get her to deal with a problem deeply buried.

She went through a very painful period . The police counsellor said that she had not met anyone who had undergone abuse for such a prolonged time .

At the time she regretted the hypnosis .

It’s not a subject we talk about , but she was able to unburden herself to her husband , and they worked through it well together .
