Hi, we just came back from Palm Sunday Mass. I just wonder why I always cry when I hear the passsion being read? Does this happen to you, too? I look around, and I don’t see anybody else sniffling. So, I get embarrassed and try to hide my tears by staring down or at my hands. Everyone else just looked solemn. How come I can’t control my emotions better? I regularly cry during Mass, too, whenever Father speaks of God’s unending love and mercy. Please share if you also experience this or how to help it…God bless!

I do and I’m not the only one so what, nobody’s business what I’m doing. I was so touched yesterday in CCD after our our Palm Sunday LOW and procession, we showed an EWTN video that vividly shows how one person, through the Mass, came to realize the Mass and Christ’s sacrifice are one event, and how his sins were wiped away by Jesus. We did have kids crying, asking questions, and some great discussions. I had another kid who did not make his first confession in the fall, come and tell me that now he is ready, he understands what Jesus did for him and wants that grace and forgiveness. Sometimes, well it’s just a bingo.

We showed the Passion of the Christ in the HS classes over a few weeks, with guided discussions and mediations. A couple of catechists allowed their emotions to show, and witnessed to their feelings on the events, and many of the kids were visibly moved by this. Don’t ever, ever apologize for weeping with Mary for her Son.

No I don’t, but then again I don’t cry very often at all. Some of my family members do. Different people are different amounts emotional or have different responses to things, so no need to worry if you cry and others don’t. The Passion is a sad story after all and quite powerful… shows the worst and the best sides of people (cruelty of the soldiers, love of Jesus) at the same time…

Normally yes, but it is all up to God how deeply it affects me each hearing.

I almost always do… This year I didn’t for some reason…I was full of JOY!

Yes, my eyes got a little watery but I managed to hold it in. :o Whenever I read the story of the Passion I get that way. Sometimes after taking communion I get a little teary-eyed as well. And oh gosh, who didn’t cry watching the Passion of the Christ movie? I couldn’t help it.

I guess I’m kind of emotional. Oh well. God made me that way 🙂

I don’t, but I do get incredibly sad during the reading of the passion. It’s the brutality of the event. I can’t imagine how people could be so brutal to another person.

I’ve cried in the past…I usually get a lump in my throat, especially on the part where He dies…

I do not cry! I feel a tremor going from shoulder to shoulder and down my spine instead. This same feeling comes at times while reading religious text, New Testament usually.

Palm Sunday always means more to me than other Sundays. WHY? Well it shows us Jesus as true man when He cries out asking GOD why has He been forsaken. It shows us Jesus as true GOD when He tells the thief that He will join him in paradise. No other reading imparts the True Man–True God of Jesus that I have encountered. The tremor really gets strong when I think or read about our Lord and think of what He went through for us.

I read once that this is the Holy Spirit’s work. If so, I welcome it more each time and look forward to it.

I didn’t cry, but I really didn’t like reading the part of the crowd.

May we all seek to care and identify personally with Jesus as you do.

I teared up at the crowd part where the congregation said “Crucify Him”

no, but if I wanted to let myself cry I probably could. I came closer to crying at the Passion of Christ movie but again, I don’t let myself cry when I have control over it. The few times I remember crying in my life were for very selfish reasons in comaprison though.

I always cry silently:crying: …and then I have to blow my nose:o I feel like I’m the only one leaves the chuch with red eyes.

I do…and while i know there is no reason to be embarrassed–it is hard when you feel like you are the only one…

When I think that MY sins put Him up there I do.
I am a miserable sinner in the hands of a merciful God.

If I make my neighbor uncomfortable with my grief, I am sorry.

I have the picture of St Francis holding Jesus while He was on the cross. What a picture. What a Savior, reaching down to comfort St. Francis when He was nailed to the cross.

Ave, ave, ave Maria, Ave, ave, ave Maria…
O my Jesus…
