Do you ever fear dying?

I don’t mean in the mortal sense but in a spiritual sense, not that there is some doubt but just whether you think you have lived good enough or whether you are still in a state of sanctifying grace or not?

I am not afraid of death, I just don’t want to be there when it happens.

Sure, I personally think you would be nuts not to worry about that, at least a little. Why you ask? Well… the stakes are so hi, yeah, that’s right, plain old fear… but that is ok. The other part is, God has given us so much, and we are wired for sin due to the fall etc.

I have to think of it like you would someone, a spouse your mother, someone you love dearly that you would never think of betraying. We owe that same deference to God. Even though we are forgiven, we… or at least I, still feel bad about it. It’s hard to work through or get your arms around. I guess that is the last part, faith, and trusting in God.

I think we’ve all felt concerned at various times of our lives. Spiritual growth is important and actively learning, praying and participation in Catholic ministries is all very important in keeping ourselves growing.

Afraid of dying and afraid of Purgatory. I’m so weak and I’ve done so little for God, after He’s done so much for me.
