Do you ever wish St Luke would have written more books of the Bible?

I do…he tells me all the stuff I want to know about

He is sort of chatty and a good reporter…he makes the people become real to me…He tells me stuff about what happened after Christ ascended that I wonder about

I like him the best of any of the authors of the books of the Bible…He is sort of the* gossip writer* of the Bible…He tells stuff the others don’t:thumbsup:

I never thought of that! I do like Luke’s and John’s writings the best.

Of course, if Luke is the reporter, than Mark would be the writer for Reader’s Digest? 🙂
 
I am not sure about that, I think that Moses and the book of Numbers is quite enthralling, with Leviticus a close second.
 
It’s all about John for me!

I love the way he goes to such great lengths to indicate just who this Jesus was, so if you were a Jew at the time reading the manuscript (Or most likely having it read to you) you’d be left in no doubt as to the true identity of Jesus.

All his scriptural tie-ins are just so seamless yet stand out so boldly. The Gospel of John is just so rich in theology, not to take away from the synoptics, obviously. I just have a soft spot for John since my college studies of it;)

A true literary classic haha.

I too prefer St. John’s writings. He really gets at the heart of the Gospel, which is love.

I guess that is why I love reading the apocraphal writings because you get a lot of testimony from eye witnesses other than the Biblical authors who have recorded things that they witnessed or heard from the Apostles. One of my favorites is the Acts of Barnabas that St. Mark wrote newadvent.org/fathers/0817.htm . He gives the account of what happened between him, Barnabas, and Paul that caused them to split up, and then he carries on the story of where him and Barnabas went while St. Luke tells the story of where Paul went afterwards.

I wish they all had - the Bible is too short.​

I think it would help if the two Lucan books - the gospel, & Acts - were presented consecutively. It’s a pity that the grouping into gospels takes priority over who wrote what.
