Do you ever wonder, "Why me?"

Lately, i have been wondering: “Why anyone?”

Why does life have to be so difficult, especially for those who follow Christ very closely? :crying:

It is so strange (or is it? 😃 ) that the stronger i get in Jesus (or at least try…), the weirder my circumstances & relationships get… the more crosses i have to endure…:whacky:

but i am learning many things… I am learning that the Word of God is so so true, so powerful, so helpful… totally worthy of being relied upon (yeah, i know, i should have known that a long time ago… :hypno: I had to learn the hard way) if only we humans would adhere to it.

Isn’t it that no matter where in life someone is born, its the best possible situation God deems for them because of his great love for everyone, so that someone born into poverty is equally as blessed as someone born into royalty? Idk it sounds really crazy, but is it really true?

It doesn’t sound crazy to me. I know that God is love (1 John 4:8) and therefore, He gives everyone an “equal” chance to come to Him… Of course, things aren’t all that equal once sin enters into the picture. Sin is so powerful it took Jesus dying on the cross to conquer it…

anyway, i am less inclined than ever to wonder “why me?” anymore… because i know that i have to grow in order to be “wrothy” of Heaven (clean enough)… & that’s why i have to suffer. It never used to be the case, but it is now, that i actually pity those who do not understand the necessity of suffering. If we never suffered, we woiuld like this world too much & never have a desire for the next one… (NOT good)…

I read so much misery every day in Criminal law, Torts and Civil Procedure and to a lesser extent Property that I have been wondering why me at times. It really is not fair that I’ve been fortunate to have everything given to me and basically never have had to do anything my whole life and yet I complain about everything when there is so much misery and bad stuff and unfortunate accidents in this world. It was absolutely hilarious first semester with the assault and batteries, false imprisonments and the crazy things that people can live though but when I realize this is not fiction it gets a little depressing with murders and child abuse and people getting burned alive and feet and hands cut off in accidents and well I think I’ve said enough. But the funny thing is the more miserable the story was the easier it is to learn the law from it. The point is most of us are really fortunate and lucky never to have to go through any of the things I read about.

“No one comes to the Father save the Spirit draw him”. You, my friend, are the happy recepient of a powerful prevenient grace. Not all people have a strong desire for spiritual things. I don’t care how rich, or privileged, or intellectually gifted they are, if they don’t have a real hunger for the spiritual, they will not receive Christ. Your desire for Catholic spirituality is a grace from God. Thank God for this precious gift of faith. Not all possess it to the same degree. Also, natural gifts can choke the word that is implanted in one’s heart. Perhaps these gifted individuals idolize reason and use intellectual arguments to talk themselves out of following the truth. It is very easy to lie to oneself and rationalize evil.

this reminds me of the story of Buddha… He was very priveleged & proteced by his parents, then he went out into the streets & saw all the poverty, misery, suffering… which is what set him off looking for “meaning”…

i learned he was a better person than i @ first thoguht, but he still didn’t die on a cross for anyone…

Plus, i have heard that before his enlightenment, he married & had a child… & he left his family to find such “englightenment”…

another reason not to be Buddhist…

Chalk one up for Catholicism. 🙂
