I know this is probably a strange question, but I was wondering if women ever get their mantilla veils blessed. Has there ever been a practice to do so? Just curious.
Thanks!
Thanks!
Mantillas are a relatively new headcovering in the history of the Church. Outside of the Spanish culture, no one really wore them until Jackie Kennedy started a fashion trend by wearing a black one with her black dress in the 1960’s. Unless there was a cultural or ethnic custom for women to have their hats, scarves, or bonnets blessed, I doubt there was ever a practice to have any other form of laywomen’s headcoverings blessed in the Roman rite, especially since it’s not a sacramental.I know this is probably a strange question, but I was wondering if women ever get their mantilla veils blessed.
