Since this is the “The Water Cooler”, this thread has nothing to do with religion but I wanted to share an experience that I’ve been having …

Because of circumstances, I often find myself up late at night (waiting for one load of laundry to finish so I can throw it in the drier and start another load, feed the turtles while the dog is sleeping, etc.). To help pass the time I usually surf the web. When I can’t connect, I’ll watch some TV to help pass the time.

Certain cable stations run back-to-back episodes of the same show. For example, TNT runs back-to-back episodes of “Law & Order”, Sci-Fi runs back-to-back episodes of “The X-Files”. I believe USA runs back-to-back episodes of “NYPD Blues”, etc.

Did anyone ever fall asleep watching the beginning of one episode and wake up toward the tail end of another episode?

It can be very confusing for the first few minutes trying to figure out what’s going on especially when you’re not fully awake until you realize how long you were asleep and that you’re watching a different episode.

Just wanted to share that. 😃

:rotfl: That hasn’t happened to me before, but who’s to say it might not in the future?? After all, I nap with the TV on in between classes, when I get the chance. What does happen to me frequently, though, is having what I’m watching interfere with my dreams (yes, I actually fall into a deep enough sleep during naps to dream). Normally, I have Fox News on all day, so I end up getting updated on current events even during my sleep, although in a somewhat unusual way. 😛

I haven’t fallen asleep during one episode and wake up during another. However, one night I dozed off during Law & Order and when I woke up, Sen. Chuck Schumer was on the screen. It took me a couple of minutes to realize he wasn’t on the show and that it was the news.

i usually get bored with the transparent plots on sitcoms and tv dramas - so to make things more interesting, i’ll start watching a show about 1/4 to 1/2 way through, and figure out what happened at the beginning.

i know i’m strange - i live with me!

We have a hundred pound puppy (Yes, puppy … he’s still less than a year old) and he wants to smell and lick everything. My daughter has two water turtles and they carry Salmonella. If the dog starts licking them, he could get sick and die. Not to mention that since they are the size of footballs, they’ll mostlikely take a snap at him as well. So we need to keep them apart. However, when he see them out of the cage, he starts barking, whining & crying – thereby, either annoying the wife and upsetting my daughter, if they are awake, or waking them up if they are asleep and then even further annoying the Mrs… Thus, the only time I can feed the turtles is when the dog is asleep.

Mary, now image if another episode followed the first one instead of the news …

That is hilarious!

I used to have a huge hundred pound lab, he was such a great dog. I’m sure the huge turtles could really spook a dog!

Wow, big puppy. Reminds me of my aunt’s 200-lb golden retriever, that dog is a beast (I think it has a growth disorder)

I tried uploading the image here but the attachment keeps failing.

I will keep that in mind, but usually, since I am still young, I don’t fall asleep watching TV!

I don’t recall ever personnaly falling asleep and not noticing the show had changed, but I recall a scene from a short lived series I watched a long time ago. The mom was explaining to her pregnant daughter that she had been watching a documentary on public television about how some tribe somewhere built a special hut for pregnant women, and all the women of the tribe would come in and help the pregnanet woman out, and pamper her until a big yellow bird came along and taught them all their ABC’s. The daughter paused for a few moments, then said, “Mom! You fell asleep and that was Sesame Street!” I busted a gut!
