Do You Have Any Reading Plan or Otherwise for Advent?

Do you have a reading plan or some special devotions, etc. planned for Advent?

O wow. Very nice.

A few months back, our Pastor had a table filled with Matthew Kelly "Rediscover Catholicism " books for the taking. He asked everyone to take one.

May start a Bible Study at work during Advent. Hmmm, better dig out those materials.

One thing I’d like to do is get to daily mass every day up until Christmas. This is really a helpful advent “thing to do” for me, anyways. And I have the time to be able to do it. I know that many simply cannot. Hope I can show some determination and make it through.

We always have a reading plan for Advent. It gets the Liturgical Year off to a positive start.
 
I’d love to get to mass more often,if I could …I’m getting some good ideas from here though .
Years ago my family would set up the crib early without the baby Jesus,Mary and Joseph and for each really good deed we did during advent we would place a little peice of straw in the crib.

(am I too late for that lovely bar of soap? 😀)

Philokalia. I have so many books I want to read. I don’t know why but Advent has not kicked in yet for me. I have years where I am very into it - this year the holidays just are not calling me - yet anyway. Hope I get it together soon!

The Liturgical year is divided into 6 seasons. Our priests always have free reading materials available for each but especially for the seasons of Advent and Lent. What is so touching is they have their names printed on the front cover - their gift to us. The reading materials not only have a thought for the day but also personalized prayers for each day.

A special reminder of how our priests, our Church and especially, God Himself, loves us.
 
I am also reading Advent and Christmas With Fulton J Sheen.
 
I have read In Conversation with God, too. I like it very much and have all the volumes but haven’t made much use of it in 3 or 4 years probably. I highly recommend it.

I might just continue with my book roulette. I have at least 100 great spiritual books on my shelf. Maybe the HS can just pick things out for me from day to day.

Lectio Divina is a practice I"d like to start doing- even if it is but from one verse in the Gospels each day.

That’s not a bad plan. Many times, I will not have a plan what part of the Bible I will read at adoration, but rather, let The Spirit pick it for me. It is (maybe not) surprising how many times what I open to answers something I was praying about.
 
Sadly, Advent coincides with the end of the academic semester, so I’ll be reading a lot of legal research as I finish papers until December 18th. I then have a stack of books I want to tackle over Christmas.
 
Daily Mass readings and commentary (as per each day) but with some extra commentaries and prayers for Advent.
Along with that I’m reading Cardinal Basil Hume’s The Mystery of the Incarnation.
