Harry Potter what?

Since he’s a fictional character, it’s impossible for my son to play with him.

LOL. :rotfl:

Yeah…how is that possible? ( I mean to play with a fictional character?)

I am confused!:nope:

Hi,Will,.

I have no kids at home. I am many decades old and I am an avid Harry Potter fan. I have all the books, which I have read more than once, I have seen all the movies and am anxiously waiting for volume six to come out.

Harry Potter I see as a modern fairy story, but much more beneficial to kids, as it shows the real situations they are living through but in transposed, irreal fashion. so that they can deal with them without stress.

When I was a child, there were parents who did not allow their children to read comics and did not tell them fairy stories or allow them to read such futile books. I don’t know whether these children turned out better or worse. Posssibly, they may have become more serious adults. And we wants lots of those, don’t we?

Cool, I’m an HP fan too! 😃 Likewise, I’ve seen all the HP movies and read all the books so far.

God Bless,

Hi JMJ,

I’ll try to keep you in mind as a well-balanced person. :clapping:

I don’t…

Then again, I don’t have kids. Perhaps that explains it. I get to keep the Harry Potter books for myself.🙂

I’m 41 years old with no kids and I love Harry Potter too. Last summer I went to a matine and watched “The Prisoner from Azkaban”. The audience consisted of kids, adolecents, grandparents and me. Even if I had kids I wouldn’t mind them reading the books or watching the movies. I would probably not buy any or just some of the Harry Potter merchandise.

I’m not so fond of the merchandise industry than come with cartoons and other kid related stuff.

My second grade son has read all of the Harry Potter books. He was very sad the day he finished them. Now he is reading CS Lewis’ The Chronicles of Narnia and loves that as well. He also is on the third book of Lemony Snicket. I am very happy that he is such an avid reader and takes after his mother!

WOW! You should be proud. A second grader who reads at this level is amazing. Good for him. My daughter who is in the 11th grade started reading books well above her grade levelf at this age, too. She aspires to be a doctor. I perdict your son will do great things. God bless him.🙂

We keep calling Harry for playdates, but apparently he’s too busy fighting Lord Voldemort to come over.

Harry used to be such a nice boy, we had him over for tea parties and a sleepover once for our kid’s birthday but then he went and took a role in a racy play where he gets naked onstage… msnbc.msn.com/id/16910224/

She doesn’t play “Harry Potter” but she and her friends do pretend to have “powers” such as invisibility, flying, etc. Usually they are lions or dragons etc. when they play, not people.

She’s 7 and not stupid. She knows that its just pretending. I stopped her one time and asked her if she truly believed in what she was playing. Her words to me, “Moooom, we’re just pretending, its a game!” And she went on to “explain” to me that the characters they play were created that way, “that’s the way God wanted them”. Sounded like Tolkien & Lewis and she hadn’t even heard those stories.

And I have to say when they play it, they are the “good guys” vanquishing evil, usually “saving” each other (or stuffed animals) from the “bad guy”. Its very imaginative, they are active (lots of running & flapping their arms) and they work together to create the story. I’m not about to stifle any of that.

I love the Harry Potter books . I have them all and can’t wait to share them with my kids when they’re ready.
Why do they have to wait 'till July for the new book to come out?
Harry Potter Naked - oh well!
Daniel Radcliffe doesn’t want to be typecast. Can you blame him?
