I like people for a variety of reasons.

I find that most people will agree with me on many things, and disagree on some. So what?

As for safer to tell me what I ‘want to hear’ --no way, Jose. Tell me the TRUTH, even if–ESPECIALLY IF–you think I ‘would be upset’, ‘couldn’t handle it’, ‘would be ashamed of you’, ‘would argue’, whatever. Maybe I would, maybe I wouldn’t, but I would be so much more hurt and upset over people lying to me. . .and if they tell me ‘what I want to hear’, to me that’s lying, if what they really think or would say is different.

Whether someone agrees with you or not shouldn’t be the criteria for liking them.

What I like about my friends is that they aren’t afraid to tell me the truth. Sometimes that truth means we disagree. And that’s okay. I like people who are honest with me over those who tell me what I want to hear just because they think I won’t like them if they don’t.
