Yes, I do.
I’ll admit that for a time I stopped doing it because in the area where I live there’s a fair amount of anti-clericalism as well as hostility directed towards the Church on the one hand and, on the other, even many of the folks who still go to Mass tend to be either *bourgeoise *, self-complacent or self conscious about it in a lot of ways. I allowed myself to become self-conscious about it too for a time, but I have since returned to the practice. I have been with friends who are otherwise very devout Catholics who absolutely
cringe when I do because they feel that it draws unnecessary attention.
Same thing with the rosary. I like to go for walks when I say it, and sometimes I go with a friend. Sometimes I use a “rosary ring” (because it’s more comfortable when you’re walking) and sometimes a normal five decade chaplet, but I no longer make any effort to hide the fact that I’m praying the rosary while I walk. Some of my friends, even though they enjoy going for a walk while we pray the rosary, will fall silent if a person approaches from the other direction, even if they are in the middle of the Our Father or the Hail Mary. They wait to finish their part of the prayer until he or she passes us. It’s almost as if we were were going to be caught talking about or doing something shameful in public!

I don’t anymore. I plough right on ahead. Yes, it usually provokes double-takes and stares, two people out
praying in public. (Eeeeewwww!

) I don’t care.
Given some of the things that people do quite openly in public these days which, in a saner world, one would never dream of doing in public, if at all, I think that it’s a fine and necessary part of our public witness to Christ.
