Do you pray more to our Blessed Virgin Mary than our King Jesus? POLL

I have been offering the chaplet of the Holy Infant Jesus of Prague for the deceased souls ( and I include numerous living persons also) since Jan 1, 2000. After awhile, it did strike me as odd that after three “Our Fathers” the remaining 12 prayers were addressed to Mary (Hail Mary) before a final “Glory Be.” Being a writer who is now devoting my writing time to poetry, I decided to write two of my own prayers; one to Jesus and one to the Holy Spirit. So rather than 3 to the Father and 12 to Mary, I pray 3 to the Father, 4 to Jesus, 4 to the Holy Spirit and 4 to Mary.
 
I pray to Mary often. Sometimes through her to Jesus, many times to her.

To me, praying to Mary is more like praying to the Holy Spirit.

I just do what I do & in order to answer this question, I’m reflecting on what I do. I’m constantly begging the Father for His favor & Blessings, for His forgiveness. I ask Jesus for His mercy.

I ask Mary for understanding, guidance, strength…

Holy Mary, Mother of God, lend me your heart, as mine is weak & corrupt…

That sort of thing.
 
Poetry eh? Cool!
Much of my own poetry is faith based. One was nominated for a Pushcart in 2016, which was nice (and with $3, that will get me a cup of coffee).

Another ‘zine just picked up a prose poem about that ol’ king of Babylon in Daniel…referencing the Ishtar Gate (which I’ve seen “live” in Berlin).
The market for faith poetry is small, but defiantly alive. Write on!

Thanks. Unfortunately, there are so many millions of people dabbling in poetry that it is almost impossible to get noticed.
 
I decided to study for an MFA a few years back because I wanted to do more than dabble. Not that an MFA is required–not at all–but it did help my craft. I started getting published before I graduated, and I had some great professors who gave me great feedback. The MFA has also helped me get a summer writing teacher job.

It’s important to workshop your writing, whether through an MFA program or otherwise. There are some good online workshops; I’m in one now that’s more beginner level, but at least it’s forcing me to write. I’ll keep taking workshops, probably, the rest of my life.

Actually, DeMontfort says even our most noblest efforts are tainted with selfish motives & not the will of God. Mary removes all self from our prayers, making them more pleasing to Jesus.

He also says by going through Mary we humble ourselves which is also pleasing to Jesus.
 
Three Persons, yes, with one Essence. And as the Catechism of St. Pius X states:

“5 Q. What work is especially attributed to the Holy Ghost? A. To the Holy Ghost is specially attributed the sanctification of souls. 6 Q. Do the Father and the Son sanctify us equally with the Holy Ghost? A. Yes, all the Three Divine Persons equally sanctify us.
7 Q. If this is so, why is the sanctification of souls specially attributed to the Holy Ghost? A. The sanctification-of souls is specially attributed to the Holy Ghost, because it is a work of love, and the works of love are attributed to the Holy Ghost.”

(Italics mine.)

So all three Persons are equally involved in sanctifying, but the work of sanctifying is especially attributed to the Third Person, the Holy Spirit. As Victor said, it’s a mystery. But it’s clear that the Spirit doesn’t act in isolation, any more than the Father or Son do. And I think the emphasis on works of love is key, love being the third theological virtue.

Perhaps the three theological virtues are inseparable and this inseparability reflects the inseparability of the Holy Trinity? And we can’t grow in one virtue without the other two?

Thanks for the info, but it wouldn’t work for me. I am 59 and I write more to the traditional tastes. I don’t care for the modern taste in poetry and I fear any sort of “official” study or workshops would demand I conform to their style. Thanks anyway.

All this is not related to the OP, who asked about not praying to the Holy Trinity, or any person of that Trinity beyond Jesus…if he meant God or the Trinity, why did he not say it?
 
I pray the rosary daily…mainly I will pray to God through our savior Jesus Christ…I also pray the divine mercy to our Blessed Savior daily…I also have a personal love for the Holy Spirit as I believe it was through him I was led to Christ so many years ago…
