I was wondering how many people read the “Word Among Us” or another Catholic magazine.

Read Word Among Us last year… looking at Magnificat this year…

I liked WAU, but I think I might like something a little more in depth.

I try to read “In Conversation with God” daily. It’s written by Fr. Francis Fernandez and it’s the best set of daily meditations I’ve ever seen.

Every day is focused on the Mass readings for the day. It’s long (7 volumes and amost 4000 pages for the year) and expensive (about $125 for the set), but definitely well worth it. He pulls together writings from the early Church fathers, Ecumenical Councils, writings of Popes to supplement his meditations on the scriptures. Just amazing.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been blown away by what he writes. He’s an Opus Dei priest, and as you might expect, it’s all based on sanctifying our daily lives.

Can’t recommend it highly enough…

Here’s a link in case you’re interested in checking it out:

Anyone else read this???

Blessings,

Watchtower, Jeane Dixon, and the Horse Race Line.

LOL Just checking to see if you are paying attention. Personally, I prefer the Magnificat but sometimes like to mix it up w/ the Word Among Us.

Personal comment: Ever notice how the OSAS/Sola Scriptura devotionals are mostly centered on the ruminations of a mere human while our devotions are all scripture based. Ironic?

God’s Word Today, a daily reflection with each month focusing on a different book or theme in Scripture. It’s very good! This month is The Rosary!

Living with Christ and The Living Word both Catholic meditation books.

yes… i do… ligourian, word among us… catholic news… bible…

This isn’t a magazine, but I just bought a book of daily reflections by John XXIII. I’m looking forward to delving into it tonight!

Been reading from the Magnificat now for 1 month - absolutely love it! 👍

JP Augustine,

I read “In Conversation with God” too. It is so, so helpful, especially when I’m having trouble focusing in on a topic for prayer. Fr. Fernandez really hits the nail with these reflections, and I like the way they tie in with the daily Mass readings.

Best,

Margaret

I’ve been doing Word Among Us for several years now. I have several of the particularly meaningful meditations from over the years set away and taped up in different places.

Try

Sacred Space which is produced by the Irish Jesuits
You will find it at
wwwsacredspace.ie/

It is daily online meditations based on liturgy for the day

I read several each day:
  1. Magnificat
  2. Word Among Us
  3. God’s Word Today
I space my readings throughout the day…morning, afternoon, evening to consecrate the day to the Lord.

God Bless!

Maybe we should all think about reading the Hours. It not just for the religious.
