I am trying to figure out a couple things.:banghead: Does anyone remember the song ‘Gold’ from the 70’s? Who sang it? Remember the ABC afterschool specials? Does anyone recall the one where the girl doesn’t think her mom understands teens at all and runs away. As she’s getting on the bus, she falls, loses consciousness, goes back in time, only to realize she’s seeing her mother as a teen? What was the title of that episode? Thanks for your bra(name removed by moderator)ower.😃

Is that the one where she meets her mom in the past? There’s an old desk at her mom’s house and her mom shows her a secret drawer in the desk. When she gets to the present, she finds the hidden drawer. Whoa! I had forgotten about those afterschool specials. Unfortunately, I can’t remember the name of the episode.

That afterschool special was actually a book first written by a woman named Francine Pascal (or similar). I think the title of the book was “Hanging Out with CiCi” or something similar. I never saw that special, but I did read that book several times as a teen.

thanks for the replies. I knew I wasn’t the only person to see the Afterschool special, but I couldn’t find anyone else who had.

BTW, John Stewart who was also a member of the Kingston Trio, also composed the big Monkees hit “Daydream Believer.” And Stevie Nicks sings back-up on “Gold.”

It’s times like this I’m glad I wasn’t born until the 80s. 😛 😃 😃

Here’s the site to find which episode it is and it IS on DVD!
ABC Afterschool Specials

There are one of two choices here:
It’s either on Volume Three (1978-79) with the title of ‘My Other Mother’ OR on Volume 5 (1981-1982) called ‘A Matter of Time’
Too bad they don’t have descriptions but only for the first two volumes

glad you guys were watching something besides the Brady Bunch

Do you remember the Afterschool Special with the guardian angel? There was a dark haired girl who apparently was some kind of outcast so her Guardian Angel, a blonde hunk of a guy in a white Captain’s uniform manifested to her and accompanied her everywhere.

They were in some kind of fast food restaurant when the antagonist, some mean blonde cheerleader type started hitting on the angel. The main character ran out of the restaurant, and the angel, focused entirely on her stood up quickly and knocked a tray of food on to the mean blonde and she screamed and could not deal with crisis.

I think the point of the entire show was that life has meaning and that without the main character, the world would be an empty place.

Does anyone remember this one?
