I’m curious to see the results of this one!

I’ve found that it’s gotten easier over the years (since my tumultous teens - that’s when it was the worse!) I’m not a really “manly” man, though, in the sense of having a lot of testosterone (or so I think) which I believe feeds the temptation.

Interesting theory about the testosterone… Do men with characteristics like heavy musculature and thick beards have a tougher time with this from a biology standpoint? You gotta wonder.

It is always with deep skepticism that I read any secular literature regarding sexual matters. The trouble is that often these authors are trying to excuse and even justify their own weaknesses.

Yes, they do try to justify their own weaknesses. Many people think it isn’t healthy to resist sexual temptation.

We all have temptations or natural instincts. My natural instinct when someone does something stupid to me on the road is to run the guy or girl off the road. But because God gave us more intellect then that, we can suppress those urges. Just as we can suppress and justify suppressing our sexual urges. It IS healthy.

I picked this: I’m a male, and it’s somewhat hard (lots of temptations), but I don’t find it it difficult to resist temptations.

I see beautiful women all the time and imagine myself with them, which I could see as a sin. But I don’t masturbate or have sex. I’m saving myself for marriage.

Resisting temptation really isn’t difficult at all. To me, being chaste until marriage is not an obligation, but a freedom, and I think that’s where many Catholics (or Christians, in general) mess up.

Every one`s sex drive is a little different, I always had a high one which caused problems for me as far being able to stay chaste.
All men have a weakness, one thing or another, whether its stealing lying etc

As CS LEWIS said, everyone has their own area of temptation. It has nothing to do with gender or amount of hair on your body.
I have never been interested in drunkeness, cardplay, desire for money or power, gossiping… these things dont attract me so I cannot say: see how good I am because I dont drink… why, I am not tempted to do so, its no effort and not a virtue on my part for the same reason…
But I have had a great struggle with purity when put to the test by men who were not keen on waiting for marriage. After being continuosly tempted I gave in… I am not made of stone. When I was a teen ager I said I will save myself for marriage… but since then my life has demonstrated my weakness and the devils cunning in his using my weakness of loneliness and need for nearness to spoil the purity I had.
Sorry… I guess I am off topic… I am slightly depressed…

I just don’t have that kind of opportunity. I have the outward appearance of down syndrome so I am not attractive at all so I do not have the opportunities to get tempted like an attractive man has.

Man is an animal, & Its true than men with higher levels of testosterone do have a higher sex drive making it muc more difficult for him to control it, whether he`s catholic or not

Satan represents man as just another animal–the most vicious of them all.

Sorry, that’s what your comment reminded me of. 😃 LaVey’s got a point. 😉

Ironically Yours. ❤️

You know what I mean, You know how a lot of men behave. There are however some fine men around

I believe as men, our environment is the single biggest factor in how much we will struggle with chastity. If your work or social life exposes you to a variety of attractive women with loose morals, you are going to have a much tougher time than the typical Catholic priest who (at least in years gone by) live in a rectory with six other priests and a 200lb housekeeper/cook named Mildred!

For married men, there is the lawful outlet for the expression of sexual “energy”. We each have our own levels of self control as well.

😉

myself i voted on the second one…but i could have easily voted for the first three choices it just depends when/which day/week…

One must also keep in mind that chastity also concerns masturation. I have almost no temptaion in sex before marriage, but masturbation is another thing. As a woman who has continuously fluctuating hormones my temptations differ on different days/weeks. And as far as the media feeding our temptations the field is growing bigger as they are targeting women more.

Well, I’m a female and I do struggle with temptations but I don’t find the temptations to be too terribly difficult to resist.

Temptations are everywhere, but my struggle isn’t nearly as bad as some that I know. I walked into Wal-Mart a few hours ago and the first things I saw were pornagraphic calendars and the typical bad magazines near the checkout. I fight such temptations by closing my eyes and saying the Hail Mary prayer until it leaves my mind.

I have found that keeping God, and Mary, in mind during the majority of the day helps me to resist temptations. For me I have to be careful when I surf the web. I try to visit this site on a daily basis as well. Talking to fellow Christians help as well.

m,b is sex(the reason mb is a sin is because with it one seeks sexual pleasure outside of a relationship)…it is because of this sin(mb) which i committed,i never felt myself to be a virgin when i first hooked up with my now wife…and i do regret having lived with this sin before meeting my wife…
i would have to agree with media feeding the fire, yet men are still an easier mark then the majority of women…in my limited experience.
