Do you think “fake news” is a real issue?

Do you find the news manipulation a real issue?
Or do you want to believe. Certain issues?

Like the morality social change.
That is directing our thoughts.
Of righteousness?

Righteousness seems to be the issue in the news.?

Do you think “fake news” is a real issue?
Yes.

There is an overwhelming bias in most media towards the liberal POV.
For instance, calling the belief that a marriage is a man and a woman “extremist”.
Or how the media had to be dragged kicking and screaming to report on the Kermit Gosnell abortion clinic deaths.
Or how everybody who disagrees with their values is a “-phobe”.

Oh, maybe they don’t precisely tell lies, but you can slant a story by the emotion-laden words you choose, or the parts of the story you omit.

I have seen examples on all fronts. It seems as though intellectual honesty and integrity have no value. Sad but that is what we deal with.

Yes, there are counter examples.

So, is fake news a real issue? Yes. What do we do about it? Pray. Be faithful.

My 2 cents.

Of course there’s fake news. There always has been - it’s nothing new.

We must make a differentiation between strong disagreement on a topic (which has always been there) and fake news. “Fake” news is propagating things like a President being unfit to serve do to citizenship even when incontrovertible documentation has been provided. “Fake” news is blowing off any opposing views that simply disagree with you, regardless of how well the journalism was done. Fake news is pandering to a government simply to boost consumption. If you open your eyes, this is what happens in Authoritarian governments. Controlling news outlets or favoring friendly ones gives comfort and predictability to those who buy in; this is NOT unique to any political ideology. This is exactly what the founders of this country were trying to avoid. Both in legislating out ways for a King to appear and very importantly George Washington voluntarily stepping down from power after two terms when he probably would have been elected again.

I don’t find “fake news” to be a big issue. However, I define it as intentionally making up a story or negligently sloppy sourcing. This is rather rare though it happens sometimes.

Instead, I think the state of news is a result of the free market. News outlets competefor ratings and to be honest, non-biased, detailed news probably doesn’t appeal to most. The create echo chambers because it gets ratings.

If truth is important then news is important.
Our attitudes are shaped by the information presented to us.
Jesus told us that He (Himself) is Truth
And we know that "The devil is a liar "
Truth is part of the Armor of God. Ephesians 6:14 tells us to wear the ’ belt of truth ’
