With S. D. O’Conner retiring, do you think there is a real chance of overturning Roe v. Wade. I tend to think no, that it will not happen.

I believe God is capable of all things. But with Spain, Belgium, the Netherlands, and soon Canada legalizing gay marriages, I think we continue to accept and legalize immoral choices. Unfortunately, Roe v. Wade will probably never be overturned. I suspect that the best we can hope for is that abortion will be restricted.

Nope…is it possible? Yes… Probable? No…

The realistic goal is to keep educating people about the reality of abortion so that despite its legality, people will choose to opt for life.

I agree. Even if it were overturned, there are still going to be abortions. The key is to change people’s hearts and the laws will follow.

Not a chance. The Democrats are for abortion. The Republicans are against abortion in so much as it’s a political platform for them to pull christians into their ranks. Why would they kill the goose that laid the golden egg?

This is why we need a third-party President to overturn Roe v. Wade.

I tend to believe that abortion as law in the US will ultimatly disappear. I think in the market of ideas, abortion is loosing and people are slowly becoming enlightened. I think that the liberals will one day see the civil rights violation that abortion is and will become pro-life - and that the political playing field will swing wildly as a result. I think liberals will abandon abortion rights as a political move in order to grab voters and move toward socialism.

Certainly - eventually, assuming God lets the world go on that long.

If there is enough time left, I strongly believe that future horrified kids in history classes will wonder about us the same way WE did as kids about the German people in 1942 or the Aztecs with their baby sacrifices. What was WRONG with those people… 😦

I hope so,God can work miracles,I wonder if enough people are asking and praying for it though.God has become a politically incorrect word in our Country:crying:

Very well said…the only thing I would add to the prayers would be fasting.

Yes, as I have told others, there are support forums where God must be written G*d or the post is deleted, and when God or prayer is mentioned you must identify

religious triggers**

as if the mention of God has ever sent anyone into despair. Ironically enough…Buddah and Allah were ok…just not God.

Prayers to end abortion, certainly, but I might pray a bit harder, sometimes, that Christ will come back ASAP. That’ll sure put a stop to abortion!

Nope. Thought it would happen but, look, in the past 25 years, 17 of those years have seen a pro-life Republican in the White House. The past 11 years have had a Republican majority in the Congress. The courts are still overwhelmingly conservative including the Supreme Court. Most governors and legislatures are conservative. If it hasn’t happened already, it’s not going to happen ever.

Overturning Roe v Wade should not be the ultimate goal of pro life Catholics, ending abortion should be the goal.

If Roe v Wade is overtuned, but abortions continue, then we have gained nothing. If we are able to end abortion while Roe v Wade stands, then we will have won the battle.

My wife and I support the local Pregnancy Aid Center, which provides pregnant women with an alternative to abortion. They provide medical care, training, counseling, etc., all without charge.

An abortion is an act of desperation. As Catholics, we need to reach out to these desperate women and help them make the right decision. We can’t delegate this to elected and appointed government officials. The power of Jesus Christ far exceeds that of government.

Don’t get me wrong, Roe v Wade was a bad decision, but it should not stop us from the goal of ending abortion.

All we need is one vote on the supreme court, so yes it is very possible that Roe V Wade will be overturned. That would just return the matter to the states, yet that is a huge step at advancing the culture of life.

I agree that converting and educating the public about the true nature of abortion is very important.

Remember, overturing Roe V Wade lost by a 5-4 vote, flip that vite and Roe V Wafe would have been turned back.
