I watched “Rear Window” today, a movie by Alfred Hitchcock. One of the scenes shows from the back a woman putting on a bra and then bending over and dancing around, so that we see her rear end. I was watching it with someone else, and we’re pretty good I think about not lusting after women. I figured it was not too bad, because I looked the movie up on USCCB and it was rated II. I don’t agree with all of their ratings, but still I know there are other movies which have sex scenes in them (Schindler’s List, for instance) which are also recommended by Catholics. Do you think it was sinful to watch this movie because of this aforementioned scene, or can I watch this so long as I don’t begin to lust?

I’ve seen Rear Window…I don’t think you’re sinning by watching it…I thought it was a great movie…Love Alfred Hitchcock

Did you lust after the woman? If so, it would be a sin. If not, it is not a sin.

I personally don’t like that movie. The protagonist shouldn’t be getting into people’s business, especially woman dressing and undressing. It is perverse.

It is a good thing that the bible is not being looked at for content here.🙂

I think you can watch it as long as you don’t begin to lust. I absolutely love that movie (I have it on DVD). The scene you mentioned isn’t that bad (in my opinion) - you see a lot worse during simple commercials these days. You see the scene and think, ‘Oh, she’s attractive’ and leave it at that - don’t dwell on it. If you find yourself dwelling on it think of it like this: that movie was made in 1954 - if she’s still alive picture what she looks like now, if she’s not already dead.

Edit: Just looked it up - Georgine Darcy a.k.a. “Miss Torso” died July 18, 2004.
