This is a hypothetical question…how would a Catholic be expected to react if you found someone who had been severely injured in a car wreck…you are first on the scene…the person is conscious but looks like they might be dying…apart from trying to comfort them…would you ask them if they wanted you to pray for them…would you ask them if they were a Christian…or a Catholic…if they believed that Christ was their savior…( or is that too Protestant ) if they were a Catholic could you as a lay person give them any type of absolution because there was a good chance they would die before a priest would see them…is there a special prayer a lay person can pray for that persons soul if they did die before help arrived.
