Does a Miracluous Medal have to be blessed?

My parish has a box of Miraculous Medals in the narthex and you’re allowed to take just one. Thing is, do the Medals have to be blessed? Or can I wear it if its not blessed? Also, If I’m not sure whether or not its blessed, should I assume it is? Thanks in advance and God bless!

Yes, the MM requires a special blessing.

You can wear it if it’s not blessed, but I don’t believe you would receive any of the graces promised for wearing it unless it is.

Ask the priest if they are blessed? If they are not, maybe he will bless them.
