I’m a convert to the Catholic faith. I went confession and received absolution for a mortal sin. At the time it never occurred to me that while being a Eucharistic minister and falling into mortal sin that it would be something that I would specifically need to address/confess along with the confession of the mortal sin. The more I learn about the Catholic faith I am now questioning whether I need to return to the confessional. I’ve heard that confession is confession. A priest once told me: say it; own it; receive forgiveness, let it go!

So my question is: Does confessing ones mortal sin and receiving absolution ‘cover’ every aspect of the sin - remembered at the time or not?

Dear friend,

I don’t know who you talked to, but when a mortal sin is absolved, it is absolved, period! Ordinarily, being an extraordinary minister of the Eucharist should not affect your Confession. Even sins that are forgotten are forgiven whenever one is absolved.
