Trying to refute anyone or anything on youtube is an exercise in futility. Don’t waste your energy.

“If a wise man has an argument with a fool, the fool only rages and laughs, and there is no quiet.” - Proverbs 29:9

Sound familiar? 🙂

don’t watch that stuff. The best thing for you do to is educate yourself in apologetics with fundamentalism. I would recommend any books by Karl Keating. I just read his latest book “the usual Suspects” and “Catholics and Fundamentalism” You are not going to be able to fight these things over youtube but you can educate yourself to answer them in real life.

Origen and Tertullian, church fathers, but were never declared Saints, due to their views that are outside of the pale of Christian orthodoxy.

Interesting enough, that the website says Tertullian proposed sola Scriptura, yet he was who coined the term “TRINITY.” Nowhere in Scripture is the word used. 😉

A wikipedia search on these two men could be enough to refute the website claims. Truth always wins out.

Fundamentalist Christianity is an overcompensation for what those denominations tend to severely lack.

Perhaps simply state the facts for the benefit of the readership. Truth will out in the long run wheteher the OP is aware of it or not.

And, if you first educate yourself on holy scripture and the catechism, you don’t even need apologetics! Reading apologetics is like reading history books about the Declaration of Independence without studying the document yourself first!

First, let me suggest - when you want a refutation of a particular argument, post that argument here on this site so people do not have to follow the link and watch a video or read some long article. You’ll get many more answers if you focus and provide the argument you want analyzes concisely here.

Secondly, here’s a quote from your link:*The Council of Trent in the 16th century declared…the Scriptures were not materially sufficient.*This is an example of someone making an argument and providing no evidence for the claim. Where did Trent supposedly make this claim? There’s nothing here to respond to.

In skimming through the rest, I find precious little in the way of substance. You can’t just blurt out that Catholics “disagree on the meaning of Tradition” without any sources or substance behind the claim –– especially when various non-Catholics have umteen definitions of their own for sola scriptura.

Furthermore, they are quote miners, it seems. Read about Tertullian’s view of Tradition and apostolic succession, and the authority of bishops here. That is totally alien thought to most adherents of sola scriptura. So if this author wants to get back to the early Church’s views then they should support the notion of Bishops, Tradition, apostolic succession, etc… But they don’t. Thus their claim to want to return to the early Church’s roots is a false one.

Bottom line - the author of that article is ignorant, unsubstantiated, and not worthy to be in the discussion - so I agree with the others to ignore it. It has no weight.

2 Thes 2:15 Therefore, bretheren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which you have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.

2 Thes 3:6 Now we command you, bretheren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he recieved from us.

The problem that we have with scripture alone is that it (scripture) doesn’t say what these traditions are. It gives some insight into what the early Church was doing (baptism -Acts 22:16, meeting on Sunday -Acts 20:7, sharing the body and blood of our Lord -Acts 20:7, 1 Cor 11:23-29) But, it is the Church and only the church that has faithfully preserved these things. And not just these three, but others. Scripture says, " And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written." -Jn 21:25. I guess scripture says not everything is in scripture.

So, what other things? Were any of them important? Did Jesus tell the Apostles to write everything down, like He told John in Rev 1:11? NO! Does anyone think that Paul realized he was writing holy scripture when he asked Timothy to send his cloak to him? (2 Tim 4:13) NO! It has always been assumed, (for 1500 years, anyway) that we needed both scripture and the Church, which, according to scripture is “the pillar and ground of truth” (1 Tim 3:15)

The article also claimes that the early church fathers never say that the Church was passing down any traditions. This is very wrong, as anyone who bothers to actually open a book from one of the fathers could plainly see. But, here’s one quote I found easily:

“The teaching of the Church has indeed been handed down through an order of succession from the Apostles, and remains in the churches even to the present time. That alone is to be believed as truth which is in no way at variance with ecclesiastical and apostolic tradition.” -Origen (c. AD 230)* Fundamental Doctrines, preface 2*

I only read about 1/4 of the way through the article, but… REALLY!

If you are in a conversation with someone whom you believe to be willing to listen who brings up misinformation from such sources, then you should discuss it with them.

Otherwise, pray for them, because anti-Catholicism is a form of bigotry, and bigotry is not amenable to reason.
