My husband and I began dating in college 8 years ago from today. We still remember the day he asked me to be his girlfriend and we’ve always celebrated the date even after we got married! We’ve been married for 3 years 1/2 years now.

Does anyone else here celebrate their dating anniversary too or are we just odd? 😅 I guess I’m wondering how common/normal it is

Sweet! DH and I kinda grew into dating from friends, so, we did not have a specific date 🙂

Married 17 years. Our dating anniversary is inconsequential. I know it was the summer and I could perhaps p(name removed by moderator)oint the year. Ohter than that, it just doesn’t matter.

Ah. I wish. November 6, coming up 49 years. 😝

We’ve been married twenty years and our marriage date and convalidation date are what we remember. When we started dating, she was dating someone else too, but not exclusively. I had to be patient, and it worked! 😀

We did celebrated it in te beginning before getting married.

Now, I would prefer that we celebrated our wedding anniversary each year.

Sort of. We started dating on August 16th and married on August 17th 3 years later.
We’ve been a couple for 31 years now.

We celebrate our first date, wedding anniversary and convalidation ceremony. Always a good time to celebrate with your best friend.

My grandparents did. They met on St. Patrick’s Day at a church gathering. They celebrated it as a first date until they were into their 90’s.

My husband and I make mention of it on the day, but we don’t usually go out.

Same with us! (Not the same anniversary dates, but same relationship between first date and wedding date).

We do.

Next month will be 28 years of marriage. This month was 30 years since our first date.

As my husband says, my life changed on that date. I see my life as two different times. Without him and with him.

We also celebrate our Convalidation date. (Yes, we like to celebrate our love.)

We did for the first several years of our marriage. As other days have come into the picture, we don’t celebrate it the way we used to and focus more on our wedding anniversary. But that’s just life being busy.

My husband and I celebrate three anniversaries: our first date, the date he proposed, and our wedding day. The first two dates on the list are much smaller celebrations than the last one. I consider all three to be special in our relationship!

@Crocus
My parents’ wedding anniversary is November 6th! It will be 38 years for them this November.

I proposed to my wife on Valentine’s Day. She said no. 😳 Six weeks later she changed her mind.😀 We celebrated twenty years in June. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Every year I remind my wife of the anniversary of our first date…two days after my birthday. I always point out that she got out of buying me a birthday gift that year and that she owes me one. She always ignores me. (Married more than 30 years, by the way…)

my wife and i chose our wedding date to coincide* with date we started dating so i guess you could say that yes we do celebrate it

*to be honest, we were off by one day due to the actual date not falling on an appropriate day of the week, close enough though

I have friends who did that. I’m not sure if they consciously planned it. It might have just worked out that way, which would make it even more special.

We remember our engagement anniversary and mention it but don’t do anything special to celebrate it. I remember the date of our first date (not sure if my husband does) and just make a mental note of it on that day, and sometimes mention it.
