Does anyone else struggle with God's love?

I feel sometimes like I’ve followed God but have got nothing in return.

I know this is selfish and wrong but at the same time it feels like God doesn’t care and just loves, but that love isn’t really that special because he loves everyone and everything.
Jesus did say, “My kingdom is not of this world”. You sound disappointed that you didn’t get what you feel you deserved in the here and now. He did promise to reward you for every good thing you do. But he just didn’t promise to reward you as you so desire. That is where the trust comes in. There may be something(s) that you don’t see that he has rewarded you with and you aren’t seeing it.

Yes, he loves everyone and it is a good thing, because that includes you. Are you special?
No in the sense that he wishes good for everyone. And yes you are special, for he knew you specifically hanging from the cross paying precisely for your individual sins being the all knowing and loving God that he is. Have you hung on the cross for him? “No greater love does a man have than to lay down his life for his friends.” He knew you before you were even in your mother’s womb so says the Psalms.

He has plans for you to be with him as his friend and companion in his kingdom, and wants you to be close to him. That is what it is all about, a wonderful kingdom for you to be happy in…that is his plan of love for you.

Try to develop a deeper relationship with him, but base it on love and not on things. We don’t love those we are close to just because of what we can get out of them. But those we love we just want to be near to and a part of their lives. We want to be close to them because they are who they are and we love them. Try this approach with him…love him…appreciate him. Then see what happens.

May God our Father give you grace and peace and may Mary hold you.

Hi WildCatholic,

I don’t struggle with God’s love at this time, but I have in the past, and when I did, I used to go and talk to my pastor, back at the time.

Sometimes we can see God as a parental figure, in the way that our parents used to treat us, and that can be good or bad, based on how our parents treated us. We may not even realize that we are consciously doing that.

What has helped me over the years is to read about the lives of the different saints. They struggled in so many ways, in their own lives.

A good way to read about them is to sign up for one of the various “saint of the day” websites. There are various websites that will e-mail you a saint of the day. It doesn’t cost anything to sign up.

God bless you, dear one. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Do parents love their kids less if they have more children? If parents can handle more than one child, then God, who is all powerful and is love can love you. And each and every one of us as if it was just us. Not just in a general sense, but personally
We were loved into existence by God, he created us out of love and for love. When we decided to reject God’s love through sin God didn’t give up, he came to us and died for our sins to show God’s love for us and so that we could spend eternity with him.

He wants to know you, and he thirsts for you. Not just humanity in general but you in particular .
It is true. I stand at the door of your heart, day and night. Even when you are not listening, even when you doubt it could be Me, I am there. I await even the smallest sign of your response, even the least whispered invitation that will allow Me to enter.
And I want you to know that whenever you invite Me, I do come – always, without fail. Silent and unseen I come, but with infinite power and love, and bringing the many gifts of My Spirit. I come with My mercy, with My desire to forgive and heal you, and with a love for you beyond your comprehension – a love every bit as great as the love I have received from the Father (“As much as the Father has loved me, I have loved you…” (Jn. 15:10) I come - longing to console you and give you strength, to lift you up and bind all your wounds. I bring you My light, to dispel your darkness and all your doubts. I come with My power, that I might carry you and all your burdens; with My grace, to touch your heart and transform your life; and My peace I give to still your soul. You know me better than I know myself do you?

:o
You weren’t speaking for yourself. The poster asked if anyone else struggled with God’s love. You replied that there was nobody else like that. Clearly, you are mistaken, as acceptance of God’s love is a constant struggle for most people. If you’re one of the lucky few that don’t have to actively work at their faith, then congratulations, but don’t assume it’s as easy for the rest of us.

Maybe I am at crossed wires but I have no reason to struggle with God’s love.

My biggest problem in life, is myself and other people. God isn’t the problem.
