Does anyone have official vocation discernment in congregations?

does anyone have official vocation discernment in congregations?

how did you feel? had you really found out what God wants you to be?
 
I discerned with the Visitation when I graduated college. I also made a monastic tour of Ohio, and felt at home when I stepped on the grounds of a monastery in the process of closing. I had been attracted to them a few years previous, but wasn’t able to get away from classes (or significant other of the time).

I told this to my spiritual director at the time, and he said he felt the same way when he set foot on seminary property.

This is why it’s SO IMPORTANT to VISIT the convents. The life has to be lived before making a decision. The religious themselves need to see your quirks, and whether or not they can accommodate you.

Discernment is a two way street. One doesn’t just discern, but they discern with a community. The Holy Ghost works on attraction, but it also helps to know yourself. If you can’t stand confinement, don’t look at the cloistered life.

Thanks. Do you think religious life is better than marriage? sometimes I want marriage, sometimes I want religious life.
 
Don’t worry about marriage. If you’re meant to be married, you’ll know when you meet your spouse.

St Francis de Sales says that the mother of the family needs to be devout because the father is busy supporting them. However, the father needs to be devout at home to give the example to the children.

I find it good that couples want priesthood and religious life. They won’t object to their children going that route.

The family home is the Ecclesia Domestica. However, the same saint I quoted above said a home full of kids doesn’t need to be a monastery. To that, I add that kids thrive on routine, and a set schedule is essential. Additionally, the first-born often has a Vocation.

I did worried about marriage even until now. I still cannot find one, can’t meet my spouse yet. i have prayed for many years but in vain, sometimes I feel God doesn’t want me to get married.

actually I heard Mary’s voice a few years ago but I still didn’t have courage to step forward. and I didn’t have vocation discernment in congregations yet, that a priest suggested me to.

Visit convents. Then you’ll begin to see what attracts, and what doesn’t. Keep a journal of your “nun run” or “convent crawl.”
