Does anyone ask Abraham or Moses or King David or the Maccabees to pray for them ever? I do sometimes.

Yes.

St. David, St. Solomon, St. Isaiah, all of the OT Prophets.

Sure. The last OT saint I called upon was Elijah. I read that he was a patron saint of driving because of the chariot with flaming wheels, so I asked him to pray for the soul of this deceased guy I knew who was a Grand Prix racer in his youth.

Only a few times I asked for the intercession of Saint Moses, Saint Isaiah and Saint Jeremiah.
I will try to do it more often

I don’t do it on a daily basis, but I do it occasionally when it strikes me as being the right thing to do.

Yes.

can Catholics pray to saints in the Orthodox church?
Sure, why not?

Not in the Liturgy of course.

But privately, yes.
thanks. i wasn’t sure. there might be saints we share, but i think they have some that we don’t have in the Catholic Church.
by the way, i love the iconography in the Orthodox churches.

Yes-Adam & Eve (I feel like they know well what we are up against), Noah

Mary is the only saint I need. It is kind of hard to have a constant devotion to other saints and Mariam devotion is quite effacious. She has types in the Old Testament but I don’t think that counts.

I have been known to pray to Solomon when I feel especially in need of the gift of wisdom - there aren’t really any NT saints who seem so appropriate.

Mind you, the Blessed Virgin, St Joseph and Sts Anne and Joachim were alive in OT tines, so they may pass for OT saints on a technicality 😉
