Does anyone know about Matt Walsh

My fallen away brother keeps posting articles on Facebook by a guy named Matt Walsh. He claims he’s catholic however every thing he says is so negative against the church. Of course with all the sex scandal that has come about my evangelical brother keeps posting horrible things about the Catholic Church and it’s upsetting me. Does anyone know of this Matt guy and if the Catholic Church knows of him?

There are dozens of people who have some sort of anger issue about the Church and make blogs and post videos. The Church generally doesn’t bother to respond to these sorts of attacks. Not worth anyone’s time.

I was never really under the impression that Matt Walsh was Catholic. He seemed more like a standard religious-right Evangelical. Then again, come to think of it, I don’t remember him ever delving deep into anything theological, so maybe he was Catholic.

As for my own opinion: Meh, I had sort of forgotten he existed. I remember that a couple friends of mine liked posting his stuff on Facebook, and every article posted just reminded me of why I dislike the religious right. He came up again recently when I think I heard that Matt Fradd was planning to invite him on to Pints with Aquinas. I think I’ll skip that episode if it ever comes.

Well, right now he is dividing his time on his blog posts among the Church scandal, the Kavanaugh hearings, and the Nike thing. He is Catholic and very conservative. Several of my Evangelical protestant friends follow him as well.

I just don’t get the impression that he is a practicing Catholic. Of course with the sex scandal all of us should be mad and disgusted but he seems to go to the point of hate. He’s saying stuff that evangelicals like to bash the Catholic Church for so gives them more ammunition. I’m not a fan of him and it would be sad if Matt Fradd invited him to his show.

You must not be reading Matt Walsh very often. He is very much Catholic and his posts align with the Church.

If you’re a Francis lover however, you won’t particularly like him because he’s been outspoken (rightfully so) about the questionable decisions made during this pontificate.

It’s been a while since I’ve read anything from him, but everything I’ve read from him has been very uncharitable. Sure, I don’t recall him saying anything against the Church’s doctrinal beliefs,* but Ephesus was also doctrinally correct, and Jesus wasn’t too fond of their lack of charity regardless.

* Of course, as already mentioned in an earlier post, I don’t recall him saying much of anything on actual doctrine. I also wasn’t Catholic back then and wouldn’t have been able to tell if it was in agreement with the Church or not.
