The MC’s are very active – Look at the life of their foundress (?) Mother Theresa - living among the poor, caring for them, loving them. Certainly contemplative prayer would be central to their way of life, as Saint Mother Theresa was grounded in the Blessed Sacrament, but they are active.
Benedictines, alternately, as monastics, are not very active. Some abbeys have apostolates such as colleges or parishes, but their life mainly revolves around the Mass, the Divine Office, and their work within the cloister.
