I fully understand your logic. Is there something you could refer me to that would confirm that those who participate in a civil gay marriage commit a mortal sin and the sin remains everlasting until the gay marriage is annulled or civilly terminated and a proper confession is made?
I have watched a few discussions where Catholic theologians describe the reaction of the Church to gay marriage and I do not believe the fact that participating in such an Act would be a mortal sin and ban the receiving of Communion/Sacraments during the term of the gay marriage was mentioned.
