In my Diocese, there are churches that don’t have kneelers. Is there a law of the Church that mandates the installation of kneelers? Can a bishop order the parish priest to put kneelers in his church? In my parish, we are just advised to stand and bow our heads during the consecration.

Hi,

Certainly, a bishop has the right to order his priests to provide kneelers in church. Even though there is no Church law requiring kneelers in church, there IS a Church law that requires the faithful to kneel during the liturgy. So your priest is making it difficult for his parishioners to follow the Church’s liturgical law. He has no right to do this.
