Does evolution disprove God's existence?

I recently engaged in a debate with a staunch atheist that claimed that evolution disproved the existence of God. I retorted and insisted that evolution did not disprove God’s existence.
Any advice on the matter of evolution and God would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
