Does Genesis 9:5 suggest animals will be in heaven?

The New Jerusalem will have things in it that are not human–if the scriptures speak of streets of gold I believe them.

As for animals I do not know but I do know that God created them and said that his creation was good. If God wants to create animals and he wants them to be in heaven–who is to say that he would or wouldn’t do that? He can do anything he wants.

I don’t think people should be attached to creatures and that includes animals. We shouldn’t be looking forward to dead pets being alive there–but if God did want that happen providing that the people in heaven are free from any attachments–why not.

In the scriptures it says “Who knows that the spirit of the beasts goes down to the Earth”?

So we know that animals have spirits and we know that they do not have immortal souls.

So it really is up to God what He wants to do concerning animals in heaven.

When the scriptures say the lion will lie down with the lamb I believe the scriptures. If a literal lion does that with a literal lamb in heaven that would not surprise me.

Always be careful when you say what God will or will not do. I think that applies to animals.
 
Whatever the answer is- as soon as I hear someone say with supposed authority something to the effect of “No! Animals do not go to heaven!” I immediately know they are wrong.

Not because they are right or wrong, but that is not a loving christian spirit and Jesus would never say something like that to someone that is sad over a lost pet. Even if animals don’t go to heaven- how you answered the question makes your answer null and void.

Romans 8 from the Amplified Bible…

“For (even the whole) creation (all nature) waits expectantly and longs earnestly for God’s sons to be made known [waits for the revealing the disclosing of their sonship]. For the creation (nature) was subjected to frailty (to futility, condemned to frustration), not because of some intentional fault on it’s own part, but by the will of Him who subjected it- [yet] with the hope that nature (creation) will be set free from it’s bondage to decay and corruption [and gain an entrance] into the glorious freedom of God’s children. We know that the whole creation [of irrational creatures] has been moaning together in pains of labor until now”.

There will be a New Heaven and a New Earth. Someone or something has to populate this New Earth. Trust in Jesus! His answer will be a million times more loving and just than our imaginations ever could be. Jesus is Lord! 🙂

If your interpretation is that all creation will be brought into the new land of the living, I agree in part. I dont see how this teaches a resurrection of past animals who are dead and returned to dust. Man, will see a resurrection of two destinies… one to the resurrection of eternal life, through faith walking in the Spirit, while the other is resurrected unto eternal damnation.

Animals and plants may indeed, and apparently likely, exist in the New Earth, but that is not the same thing as a resurrection of individual beasts who once lived. It only means a “new creation” will be made. Man is already walking in this new creation through faith and devotion to God’s commands.

I think there is more to this than we can possible imagine.

I saw a really good documentary about plants the other day, and scientists have been doing experiments with grass, plants, weeds, etc and they have found they have behaviors, and act like any other animal/ person. Some of their findings were amazing, they proved and showed how plants can protect themselves against diseases, bugs, etc. they can literally ‘call in’ certain bugs that will eat the invasive bug or disease, and the plants know exactly how to do this!!

They also found plants communicate with each other, but not in the ways we would think, they showed plants actually helping other plants too…I was blown away by what they found, and I think there is probably alot more they dont know yet, all this leads me to believe LIFE in general is something so complex, that we cannot understand or grasp what it all means.

It is obvious people care about animals, so this simple fact for me is enough to believe God would allow animals to exist in heaven, plants probably exist there too, they are probably more beautiful than anything we have here though!

Very interesting!

The only thing I try to distinguish in this topic is the reality of the animal kingdom being grafted into the new earth and maybe heaven, as opposed to the resurrection of all animals and plants that have ever existed and returned to the earth.

Do you believe every plant, grass, tree, ant, worm, mosquito, locust, bird, fish, kelp, coral, gnat, larvae, mushroom, spider, jellyfish, anaconda, giraffe, bat, cactus, snail,… etc which ever existed will come back to life with its spirit???

Just because a dog, cat, or orca is more intelligent and is more socially compatible with us, does that mean they are different than the rest of the creatures?
