Does God decide when it's your time to die?

God has a plan for all of us from the moment of conception to natural death. However, we as humans don’t always obey God’s plan for us. When we choose to disobey God our disobedience can have a direct affect on other people. Example: Adam and Eve disobeying God resulting in original sin. I don’t think anyone would wanted to have original sin, but we have at because of what Adam and Eve did… Drunk person hops into a car, crashes and kills a guy going home to his family. Again who did the action and who suffered from it?

Free will is a powerful tool. We are asked to follow His will, but we have the choice not to. When we choose not to, not only do we suffer, other people suffer too. Some times it’s in a small non-life-threatening way. Other times it can be death of many people.

If deaths are caused by people not following God’s will why is it that people are living twice as long as those who lived in the 19th century? Are people following God’s will twice as much as those who lived in 1840? I doubt it. People are if anything less devout today than 160 years ago.

People are living longer not as a result of an increase in devotion but due directly to advancements in medical knowladgevand nutrition. God gave us our souls and one of the natural powers of the soul is intellect. If we use our intellect to prolong our life then it is fee will on our part to do so just as one can freely decide to eat poorly and not seek medical attention when problems arise. He is simply allowing us, as usual, to exercise our free will and reap the benefits of doing so, pro or con.

In arguments about euthanasia it’s often said that only God decides when it’s your time. And most people believe that anyway. Something strikes me though. Life expectancy is much higher than it was. This graph shows that in 1840 a boy in Britain could only hope (on average) to live for 40 years: ohe.org/page/knowledge/schools/appendix/life_expectancy.cfm Today a boy born in Britain can hope to live for 80 years.

Why are people living 40 years longer if God decides when you die?

I do not know if God Is sitting there with a list and goes ok who am I taking out today. I highly doubt that he is. Now I do have a thought on the average life span thing. If we look at the Bible and I am not saying that every year is to be taken for a literal year, but stating with Adam people seemed to live quite long lives. My thinking is that God walked with Adam, now was we move further away form Adam live got shorter and shorter most like till the time of Christ. Over the last 2000 years life spans have been growing again Maybe that is because we are moveing toward being in Gods presence again instead of away from it.

Not true in my family as the my great great grandparents lived into their mid to late 80’s I can not belive they were the exception.

well they were living in their 900’s as well not so sure if it is made up or not maby it was just their 50’s and 90’s and over time the copiest added a zero. if that the case we are back were we started.
