Hey so today me and some friend were having a conversation about controversial topics. While speaking, I accidentally worded my sentence wrong and said something that would of made people think I was fine with the horrible thing we were talking about. I immediately corrected myself, but now I wonder, if things like that were to happen daily, would God know our true intent and simply dismiss that as a little thought slip up? Because those happen a lot to me lol. Like in this situation, I meant to say how some people thought abortion was fine and how it makes me feel sad thinking about it but I accidentally said I was fine with it and I immediately slapped myself and corrected myself while apologizing to who I was conversing with. So does God know when we have slip ups with words and just ignores them? I also felt extremely guilty after that situation so I prayed to God telling him my mistake, and how I am 100% not fine with such a horrible thing.

Edit: also I have these intrusive thoughts telling me to be pro abortion. I always immediately shut these out and tell myself that I would never do that because, I’d have to live with guilt of that, murdering an innocent child is just horrible, and how it’s destroying a gift from God and how it would offend him greatly. And like every time I say I’m pro life I almost accidentally say pro abortion and I hate myself for that. Is this just Satan trying to get to my head? So could someone give me advice on how to rid myself of these thoughts? And please strengthen my view on being pro life because society today is just ripping at my soul and I suspect that’s its playing apart in this. I want to be prolife, but I’m afraid Satan might take over, so someone please give me astronaut reasons on why to be prolife so I can fight the horrible thoughts.

If you are having serious problems with intrusive thoughts, you may wish to speak with a professional Catholic counselor. It is outside the realm of expertise of just about anyone in these forums.

Yes, certainly God knows our true intentions for sure. As the above poster mentioned, as far as the intrusive thoughts I’d speak to my Priest/SA. I would dare not try to interpret what the reasoning is for your intrusive thoughts. It could be a number of things that only a trained person would be able to work with you on.
However, you indeed are in my prayers!

I’m afraid that somewhere deep down I’m causing the thoughts, even though I tell myself that it’s horrible. Is it just Satan or is it a part of me that wants me to be horrible. The majority of my thoughts that are bubbled up aren bad and there I have that minority that sometimes just blows up and makes me feel like a horrible person. Should I be feeling horrible for that minority of my thoughts? I try my best to push that always but they always come back up, also I will talk to a priest soon.

Jesus isnt waiting for you to mess up so He can say ”Ha, gotcha!” That’s not how it works, don’t overthink it. We can’t control every thought that’s comes into our minds but we can control our actions 😀

God is all knowing, he knows everything.

Knowing the arguments for life from several angles will be helpful in forming your opinion on the evil of abortion. I recommend listening to Stephanie Gray’s talks beginning with her talk at Google…
