Does he need a full annulment?

My friend needs to know if he needs a lack of form annulment, or a full annulment. He was baptized and confirmed Catholic, but joined a Lutheran church before he married his ex-wife. I was always taught once Catholic always Catholic, and that you formally had to ask for dispensation from the Church.

Any help would be appreciated. God Bless all of you

It all depends on how formal his commitment to the Lutheran Church was. This is what the marriage tribunal will determine.
