Does it matter where the readings are done?

During mass, it has been our practice to do the readings (First Reading and Second Reading) from what I call the Crow’s Nest. The Gospel is proclaimed from what I call the Ambo.

It was said to me by a Transitional Deacon that the Gospel is supposed to be done above where the regular readings are done.

Since that time, I mentioned it to the parish priest. ‘It doesn’t really matter’ - or something to that effect.

I have looked both in the CCC and the GIRM. I can’t see where it states that one must be in one place, and the other in the other place.

Personally, I think it makes sense for the Gospel to be done from the Crow’s Nest, and allow the regular readings to be done from the Ambo, or all the readings from the Crow’s Nest… but that doesn’t make it wrong.

If there is some place where I should find the answer, please point me.

And what is the correct name for the Crow’s Nest?🤷

I think it might be an ornate pulpit… but I can’t comment on the rest.
