Does it matter who blesses my Rosary?

Perhaps this is a dumb question since graces come from God, but does it matter which priest blesses my rosary beads? I have a new pair coming soon and there may be an opportunity to get a Cardinal’s blessing, but honestly I’d rather have my uncle or one of my parish priests bless it. Also, does the holiness of the priest make a difference? Just wondering.

Anybody ordained, including permanent deacons, can bless objects.

The holiness of the individual doesn’t have any effect on the efficacy of grace. God is always faithful.

Albigensian. St Dominic & the Dominicans evangelized & countered them in southern France.

It was over the Sacraments, but the concept applies to blessings.

The only difference is, if a sacramental such as a Rosary is blessed by any bishop (which includes cardinals, archbishops, bishops, and the Pope, but not priests) you can use it to get a plenary indulgence on the feast of Sts. Peter and Paul.

Other than that, no difference.

Yeah you’re right. I don’t remember the name of it. I just remember the Albigensians because they managed to carve out their own little kingdom and they triggered a Crusade.

Things have a way of resurfacing. After so many generations, what is old seems new.
 
I bought a Rosary online where they said a priest blesses them…but turns out they are technically schismatic so I don’t think it counted 😦
 
Well, the last thing I had blessed by a priest took him exactly 10 seconds to do. There’s also the option of priests simply scheduling a once-a-month blessing after a Mass and asking everybody to bring their stuff in and blessing it all at once. They do this at a lot of shrines with gift shops.

It makes no difference.

I will admit that I do tend to associate certain rosaries I have with certain things I’m praying about because of who blessed them. If I’m sad or depressed and need to remember God’s love for me, I use one rosary that was blessed by a priest who I associate with that message. If I need guidance or advice, I use another blessed by one of the smartest men I’ve ever met. I only realized I was doing that very recently 🙂
 
There was an option to have it blessed by a priest – it wasn’t to buy a blessed item — not sure if that slight difference actually makes a difference. Or at least that’s what I remember…I could be wrong. Hope I’m wrong…
